Back to Projects Concept Design and Visualisation Oxford Street Lights
In 2019 Selfridges were approached to consult with the Oxford Street Association on a new lighting proposal for that Christmas.

Usually these lights are one-off installations sold to brands that are heavily traditional, but for the 2019 season they wanted to experiment with a reusable option that would involve programmable nets of LED lights hung at intervals along the entirety of the street.

Working with the Oxford Street Association, I wrote and storyboarded an animation for these lights that would embody themes of togetherness and general Christmas feelgood vibes, without being too complicated to animate or program.

Worked out in a meeting with Oxford Street marketing personnel, we came up with the idea of individual circles moving around and coming together to form snowflakes, that then became a blizzard, that revealed out to an individual circle again, with the animation repeating ad infinitum.  This animation was interspersed with Oxford Street logos, and a rippling backdrop of the Northern Lights.

Initial visuals modelled and rendered in Cinema 4D, with simple storyboards completed in Adobe Creative Suite.

Final animations completed by Oxford Street Association.
